Argentine guitarist, composer and arranger Gabriel Szternsztejn began his musical studies at the "Collegium Musicum" and the National Conservatory of Music "Carlos López Buchardo" of Buenos Aires. He also studied jazz harmony and improvisation with Pino Marrone and Javier Cohen and has attended seminars with Pat Metheny, John Scofield, Mike Stern, Pat Martino, and Scott Henderson, Egberto Gismonti, Ralph Towner and Ernie Watts among others.

He has participated in concerts, tours, and recordings for several artists, and has formed part of many jazz, tango and fusion groups in Buenos Aires. For six years he was a member of Mario Herrerías’s quintet, one of the most innovative composers and arrangers of tango in Argentina today.

Szternsztejn has composed music for the short films "Monoblock 26", by Ezequiel Groisman, "Lejanía", "Once, an afternoon" and "El compartimiento", by Leonora Kievsky, as well as for the theatrical show "Basilisa la sabia" by “La Canela” theater company.

In Spain, where he resides since 2001, he has played in the show "The Life and Death of Pier Paolo Pasolini," the bossa nova quartet "Insensatez,"  and Juan Esteban Cuacci tango quintet. In addition, he has accompanied such artists as Paloma San Basilio, Francisco, Conchita, María Lavalle, "Lantana", and Gisela Novais, to name a few.

Szternsztejn is director and arranger of the Modern Ensemble of the JORCAM (Youth Orchestra of the Community of Madrid).

He was a member of the band for the Spanish television program "Cántame como pasó" and the orchestra of the musical "Avenue Q."He has also played with the Castilla la Manca Philharmonic Orchestra. He has been the guitarist for the Madrid musical "The Lion King" since its premiere.

As a soloist, he has recorded two albums and an EP of all original material, backed by his quartet comprised of outstanding musicians from the Madrid scene.

Szternsztejn has taught actively in music schools such as "Tademus", "Musineira" and "TEMA" (Buenos Aires), "Musical Sur", "Arion", "Municipal School of Coslada Music", "Escuela de Nuevas Músicas" "And" El Almadén "(Madrid). He has taught guitar and ensemble playing at the School of Creative Music of Madrid since 2006.

In 2018 Szternsztejn created "Astor, the Music of Astor Piazzolla." This project, in which he is guitarist, is dedicated to performing the music of the great Argentine bandoneonist and composer.
