He studied composition with the masters Claudio Schulkin and Rodolfo Dalvisio, and orchestration of popular music with the masters Gustavo Mozzi and Juan Carlos Cuacci.

Since 1994 he has accompanied different tango performers. As an accordionist, he played in traditional Irish and Galician music groups between 1996 and 2000. At the same time, he worked as a pianist and composer in numerous theatrical projects. In 1999 he toured France and Belgium with the Uballet (Ballet of Tango and Folklore of the University of Buenos Aires). In 2000 he created "Los Elefantes del Bazar", a nine-piece ensemble of which he is composer and arranger. As accordionist and arranger, Ballesteros also is a member of a Klezmer music quartet. Additionally, he has composed music for a trio of mallet instruments (vibraphone and marimba), tuba and saxophone.

In 2008 he worked as pianist for “María de Buenos Aires” at the Cervantes National Theater with Horacio Ferrer, Julia Zenko and Guillermo Fernández, in an ensemble that included outstanding tango musicians such as Osvaldo Marconi, Pablo Agri and Ricardo Lew, led by José Carli.

In 2009 he recorded an album of original material and began to work as a pianist and musical director of "Piaf, the Musical", starring Elena Roger.

In 2010 Ballesteros settled in Madrid in order to work as a pianist and musical director for Alberto Cortez, touring the USA, Mexico, Argentina, Chile, Ecuador, Colombia, the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico and various cities in Spain.

Since 2015 he has worked as pianist and arranger for Pía Tedesco and Jasmina Petrovic, among other artists. As an accordionist, he works in the international music collective "Jingle Django," (winner of the latest street music festival in Ludwigsburg, Germany), as well as in the play "Donde el bosque se espesa", produced by the MICOMICOM Company.

At the beginning of 2018 he released "De Sueños y Despertares", a CD comprised of his own original music along with some renditions of popular music from Buenos Aires, performing it in both Buenos Aires and Madrid.

Since 2018 he has been the pianist for "Astor, the music of Astor Piazzolla", a quintet that plays the music of the Argentine composer and bandoneonist.
